With over 40 years of experience, the renowned engineering company JRI has evolved into Grupo JRI, a business conglomerate with a presence in Chile, Peru, Brazil, and the United States. It integrates six companies under a solid and diversified value proposition, enabling a comprehensive approach to the challenges of a highly demanding industry.
With a team of more than 700 professionals, Grupo JRI reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable and efficient development of mining. The founder and Chairman of the Board of Grupo JRI, Juan Rayo, explains the process behind this new structure, its objectives, and the long-term challenges for the conglomerate.
How did Grupo JRI come to be?
Some time ago, we realized that our structure needed reorganization to more efficiently address the industry’s new challenges. That’s how the idea of forming a holding company, Grupo JRI, was born—driven by a future vision that strengthens our value proposition to support our clients in both current and future challenges in Chile and the region.
Our goal is to consolidate JRI’s legacy and project it into the future by strengthening our capabilities, integrating talent, and working collaboratively with our strategic partners. This transformation will allow us to comprehensively tackle the challenges of the mining industry and respond to our clients’ needs with excellence.
How would you describe Grupo JRI, and what sets it apart in the industry?
We have been pioneers in developing the best engineering solutions for Chile’s highly complex mining industry. Over the last 40 years, we have played a key role in landmark projects with significant scale and impact, and the next 40 years will be no different.
I believe there is no other group like ours. Our value proposition is to offer specialized services, mainly for the mining industry, through high-quality and efficient companies focused on four areas: Engineering, Construction, Technology and Training, and International Investments.
What sets us apart is our quality, flexibility, and ability to create synergies between our companies to maximize the value delivered to our clients. We operate with a collaborative approach, allowing us to address challenges in an agile and efficient manner.
What does leading this transformation mean to you personally, and how does it connect with JRI’s legacy in the mining sector?
Since the beginning, I have considered myself an entrepreneur. I have founded several companies and learned from each experience—both successes and failures. At this stage in my life, I see it as essential to shape an organized and solid company that can continue to grow in the future.
How do you envision the future of Grupo JRI?
This year, we will focus on structuring and officially launching Grupo JRI. Although the legal process may take time, our goal is to reach an annual revenue of 100 million dollars. Sustained growth in the coming years will allow us, in the longer term, to explore options such as becoming a publicly traded company and listing our shares on the stock exchange—an achievement that would position us as the first Chilean engineering company to do so.
What final message would you give to the industry about Grupo JRI?
Grupo JRI reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable and efficient development of mining. Our strength lies in adapting to our clients’ needs, always striving for excellence in every project. We believe in the power of collaboration and in turning challenges into opportunities, with the goal of creating a positive impact that will last for generations.
